It was unbelievable. When couple, Grant and Kasey Myers from Sherman Oaks,CA,received it in the mail, they assumed it was fake. The Myers received a tattered old post card.

When I first saw it, I kinda assumed it was some viral piece of mail, a coupon for something, Myers said.

When they looked at the corner of the postcard, it was stamped “1956″and sent from Lebanon. There was just one message written in pen ink that said, “Hi folks, continuing my Burton Holmes travelogue.”

The couple had no idea who Burton Holmes was. They searched the man’s name and discovered that he has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Holmes was a famous American traveler, filmmaker, and photographer.

Before television was in every household, Holmes would travel to every continent to give Americans a taste of what foreign life looked like. Holmes died just two years after sending the letter.

No one has any idea why it would take six decades to arrive at its destination. The postcard was addressed to Richard Turner, the Myers don’t know who he is. However, they plan on trying to find him to return the postcard.

Im thinking of going down to the city and doing some research and pulling out some deeds, trying to figure who owned the house when and where was Richard Turner, says Kasey.

The couple’s house was built in the early ’50s but they haven’t lived there long.
